The intention was to unearth novel avenues for promoting the benefits of chess to the public, hence the idea of chess serving as a tool for inmate rehabilitation.

Section 2: The Novel Approach to Teaching Chess: The Super Grandmaster Perspective

As a grandmaster himself, Kevin Goh Wei Ming is no stranger to advanced chess tactics. He brings his personal perspective as a Super GM to the teaching environment, emphasizing a strong knowledge of attacking strategies.

Section 3: Establishment of the Chess Training Team

To actualize this initiative, a robust team of 15 enthusiastic volunteers was assembled. With Kevin Goh Wei Ming at the helm as Chief Trainer, the team consisted of chess lovers who dedicated their time and expertise to support the inmates’ learning process.

Section 4: The Initial Chess Session’s Unexpected Outcomes

Venturing into uncharted territories, the inaugural chess session was held with uncertainty. A simul exhibition was organized, where Kevin Goh Wei Ming faced 18 opponents, while another team member, Carleton, played against 16 inmates. In contrast to the initial expectation of only five beginner participants, the team was surprised by a strong interest exhibited by the inmate community.
